Need more proof that committees get nothing done right? The Museum of Modern Art sent this letter to Andy Warhol in 1956 rejecting his gift of one of his early drawings. I am guessing they have regretted this decision for at least 40 years...

I can't agree with you more. I can't remember which artist said that we should not create for awards but for only one person. Since then, I've never cared about recognition but who likes my work. Life seems easier and happier.
I'm saving this for next time I suffer rejection!
I agree - this is something to keep for the future and then to remember that it doesn't matter what others think as long as you are following your heart!
life is rejection...
(sorry that just seemed like an artistic thing to say)
it is interesting he was trying to get into that world from early on
I actually got a copy of this letter with a purse I bought.
What a turn of events for Mr. Warhol. This is an example of what can happen when we keep our dreams live. Where is the orignal rejection letter?
....
I also received a copy of this letter which was inside a purse I purchased in October 2008.

I have a original copy of this letter on the original paper the document was written on. They do not even sell or make this paper anymore. It was a rejection the of Shoe. The Museum directory has passed also. It has Andy original address and everything on this letter. I have been trying to figure out where the letter came from back in 1956 and how or where did it come from on this paper with original signatures. If anyone can help out I would appreciate it. You would think that this letter is very important.
Your 15 minutes of glory had not come...
